Chocolate Snack Cake

21/3 cup Super Snack Cake Mix (1 pre-portioned package)

2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder

3/4 cup water

1 large egg

1/3 cup oil (vegetable, canola, coconut)

1 tsp. vanilla

1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, or dark)*

1/2 cup walnuts, chopped**

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Pour Super Snack Cake Mix into ungreased 8-inch or 9-inch baking pan. Stir in cocoa powder. 

In a medium bowl, combine water, egg, oil, and vanilla.  Stir until well blended.  

Stir egg mixture into snack cake mix until well blended.  Batter will be thick.  Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Smooth surface.  Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool on a wire rack for 5-10 minutes before serving. 

Notes

*Substitute other flavored baking chips, such as peanut butter, white or mint for additional flavor combinations. 

**Almonds, pecans, pistachios, or your favorite nut can be substituted.
