Cinnamon Applesauce Salad

Perfect as a side dish with holiday turkey or ham, or as an after-dinner dessert topped with whipped cream!

16 oz. or 2-3 oz. packages of red gelatin (black cherry, strawberry, etc.)

2 cups boiling water

1/2 cup cinnamon red hot candies

114 oz. can applesauce

Instructions

In a large bowl, dissolve gelatin and cinnamon candies in the boiling water.  (If needed to dissolve the candies quicker, place bowl in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes.)  The cinnamon candies may not dissolve completely. Remove excess candy with a spoon.  Stir in applesauce.  Pour into a 8-inch container.  Refrigerate until firm.   Serve as a side with a white meat like pork, chicken or turkey; or eat as a dessert with a dollop of whipped cream or topping.
