Cinnamon and sugar is nice, but Cinnamon Baking Bits make baked goods better! Bags of cinnamon chips are found in most mega-marts, but making them at home to have on hand is easier. The five ingredients in this recipe are probably sitting in your pantry right now–ground cinnamon, granulated sugar, light corn syrup, vegetable shortening, and vanilla extract.
Mix the five items together, shape into a 1/4-inch thick square and bake until melted and slightly bubbly. Cool, and cut into chunks. That’s it! Add Cinnamon Baking Bits wherever you want a more pronounced spiced flavor. Think coffee cake, cinnamon rolls, Snickerdoodle cookies, or pancakes to name just a few. These bits store in an air-tight container for up to a year in a dark cabinet or the freezer.
