French 75

french-75

Effervescent. Lemony. Refreshingly fancy. In a city known for its indulgences, impulsivity and a.ma.zing music, New Orleans first introduced me to this sophisticated cocktail named after a WWI field gun.

The French 75 has been on my fancy drink list ever since. I categorize this as a “fancy” drink due to 1.) a bubbly wine like Prosecco, or champagne is required; and 2.) it’s best served in a stemmed champagne fluted glass, of which I will most likely break if not careful. A true Champagne is very dry for my tastes, so I opt for Prosecco with its slightly sweeter notes (and more budget friendly costs). If you’re feeling especially extra, or have a special occasion, I’d suggest the French 75! A votre santé! Cheers!
